San Colombano is the name of exceptional and excellent wines with ‘appellation contrôlée’ (quality guarantee of area of origin), produced on a typical hill, in the middle of the Po Valley Plain, South of Milan, between Lodigiana and Lower Pavia; 40 km from Milan, some thirty from Pavia and 15 from Lodi.
From time immemorial, for more than a millennium, this has been a small vinegrowing and wine-producing area.
The geological origin of the San Colombano Hill has been studied at length and today it seems to have been proved that it is a matter of an appendage of the Apennines, which have had their connection cord cut by the River Po.
